Direct Seeded Rice (DSR)

Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) is a new system of growing high yielding rice by direct dry sowing, without raising nursery, without transplantation, without standing water, on non-puddled soils under less irrigation with unsaturated (aerobic) soil.

It is just like any irrigated dryland crops such as wheat or maize. This system provides effective use of rainfall on the farmer’s field and offers efficient utilization of all available farm resources.

For effective use of DSR system, correct cultivars (seeds) developed using technologies like aerobic rice, drought resistance, Marker-Assisted Selection is very important. Equally important are changes in package of practices to grow rice with significantly less water. It should be noted that cultivars bred for wetland conditions may not give desired results in DSR conditions.

 

Our Variety

KisanKraft’s “KK-Akshat-A1” is a drought tolerant variety developed using aerobic rice technology. It has efficient root system, better yield, medium slender grains, and good cooking quality. It has been demonstrated in 9 states for 2 Kharif seasons.
