Sowing is an art of placing seeds in the soil to have good germination in the field. To ease this operation various types of seeders are available, those are:
Seed Drill:
Seed drill is a machine for placing the seeds in a continuous flow in furrows at uniform rate and at controlled depth and covering them with soil.
Function of seed drill
- To carry the seeds
- To open furrow to an uniform depth
- To meter the seeds
- To place the seed in furrows in an acceptable pattern
- To cover the seeds and compact the soil around the seed
Seed Cum Fertilizer Drill:
Seed drills, fitted with fertilizer dropping attachment, distribute the fertilizer uniformly on the ground. This machine has a large seed box which is divided length-wise into two compartments, one for seeds and another for fertilizers.
Seedling Planter:
Seedling planter is primarily utilized for manual sowing of cartridge seedlings in one row in open ground. Seeding planters assist the transplanting process and expand the potential production of farm. This help in making the transplanting process easier and faster with less manpower. It provides various benefits which include easy process, high efficiency, economical and easy to operate, etc. Seedling planters are utilized for planting of various vegetables like onion, tomato, maize, brinjal, cucumber, carrot, etc.
