Various Types of Sowing Methods
Sowing also known as seeding is an art of placing seeds in the soil to have good germination in the field. A Perfect sowing gives:
- Maintains plant population
- Maintains proper depth at which seed is placed in the soil.
- Maintains proper spacing between rows and plants.
Various Types of Sowing Methods are:
Broadcasting
Broadcasting is the process of random scattering of seeds on the surface of field. It can be done manually. Uniformity of seeding depends upon skill of the person.
Dibbling
Dibbling is the process of placing the seeds in holes made in field and covering them. In this method, seeds are placed in holes made at definite depth at fixed spacing. This is very time-consuming process, so it is recommended to use for large size seeds.
Drilling
Drilling means dropping the seeds in furrow lines in a continuous flow and covering the seeds with soil. Drilling can be operated by tractor drawn, tiller drawn and bullock drawn. In this method, delivery of seeds at the desired rate in seed bed may be done either manually or mechanically. Here the number of rows of seeding may be one or more.
Transplanting
Transplanting consists of preparing seedlings in nursery and then planting these seedlings in the prepared field. It is commonly done for paddy. It is very time-consuming operation. The equipment used for placing plants in the soil is called Transplanter.
To ease the sowing operation and to apply fertilizer along with sowing, KisanKraft has seed cum fertilizer drill machines i.e., 3 rows and 5 rows, operated by attaching with inter-cultivators (KK-IC-200P, KK-IC-300D, KK-IC-400D). We also have paddy transplanter, manual planter and manual seeders.
