The Future of Agriculture Farming is Electric

Indian agriculture is changing rapidly. Farmers are looking for practical ways to improve productivity, manage labor challenges, and reduce the recurring cost of operating farm machinery. As fuel and maintenance expenses continue to influence farm economics, electric agricultural machinery is emerging as a practical alternative for farm operations.

Recognizing this shift, we have introduced two new battery-powered machines: the E-Inter-Cultivator and the E-Self-Propelled Reaper. Developed and manufactured in India, these machines bring the benefits of electric power to important stages of farming, weeding, intercultural operations and harvesting.

The E-Inter-Cultivator and E-Self-Propelled Reaper mark our first entry into battery-powered large agricultural machinery. Together, they address two important farm operations, weeding and harvesting, while demonstrating how electric technology can be applied to practical agricultural equipment.

Why Electric Farm Machinery Matters?

For small and medium farmers, the cost of running a machine matters as much as the machine's purchase price. Petrol-powered agricultural machinery involves recurring expenditure on fuel, engine oil, filters, and routine engine maintenance. Labour availability is a challenge during critical weeding and harvesting windows.

In our field trials, our electric machines brought energy costs down from approximately ₹170 per hour for comparable petrol-powered equipment to approximately ₹10 per hour, delivering a cost reduction of more than 90%. Actual operating costs can vary depending on the machine, usage, electricity tariff and field conditions.

Our E-Inter-Cultivator: Electric Power for Weeding & Intercultural Operations

Weeding and intercultural operations are essential for crop management, but they can demand significant labour and operating time. Our E-Inter-Cultivator is designed as a battery-powered solution for these field operations, giving farmers an electric alternative to conventional petrol-powered equipment.

The E-Inter-Cultivator is equipped with 32 J-shaped blades and is designed to cover approximately one acre per hour. It can deliver 3.5+ hours of continuous operation on a single charge and includes reverse drive to help with manoeuvring in confined field conditions.

Our E-Self Propelled Reaper: Efficient Electric Harvesting

Harvesting is a time-sensitive farm operation. When labour is limited during peak harvest periods, agricultural machinery can help farmers complete harvesting work more efficiently. Our E-Self Propelled Reaper brings battery-powered technology to this stage of farming.

The E-Self Propelled Reaper is designed for harvesting crops including paddy, wheat, millets and soybean. It can cover approximately one acre per hour and provides around four hours of continuous operation on a single charge. The machine is also designed to work in moderately wet paddy fields.

A Battery-Powered Platform Built for the Farm

Both machines use a removable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that can be charged separately from the machine or directly charged while the battery is intact in the machine as well. The battery is AIS-certified and designed for more than 2,000–2,500 charge cycles. The electric platform also uses an IP67-rated motor and controller for resistance to dust and water.

Because the machines do not use conventional petrol engines, they eliminate the need for fuel, engine oil, carburettors, spark plugs and routine engine components associated with petrol-powered equipment. The electric platform is also designed for quieter operation and lower vibration, which can improve operator comfort during field work.

Lower Running Costs, Simpler Operation

One of the strongest reasons to consider electric farm equipment is the potential reduction in recurring operating costs. Our field trials point to a significant difference in energy cost between the new electric machines and comparable petrol-powered equipment.

For farmers, the benefit goes beyond fuel savings. Electric agricultural machinery can also simplify routine operation by removing several engine-related consumables and maintenance requirements. This makes the total operating experience an important part of the value proposition.

Designed for Indian Farming Conditions

Agricultural machinery has to work in real fields, not just controlled environments. Our new electric machines have undergone more than 100 hours of testing across different locations, agro-climatic conditions and soil conditions, including dry, wet and muddy conditions. The E-Inter-Cultivator has also been independently tested and approved by the Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute (FMTTI).
